What is Watsu®? Watsu is a gentle form of body therapy performed in a warm water pool. It combines elements of shiatsu, massage, joint mobilization, muscle stretching, and dance movements. The receiver is continuously supported while being floated, cradled, rocked, stretched, each flowing smoothly into the next. The deeply relaxing effects of warm water, nurturing support, combined with Watsu movements create a bodywork experience with a range of therapeutic benefits including increased mobility and range of motion and potential healing on many levels.
I love Watsu, and I am excited to share this healing modality with others!
My Path.
I began my Watsu® journey in June 2015 traveling to Sierra Hot Springs in Sierraville, CA. It was a rare opportunity to study with the creator of Watsu Harold Dull for Watsu 1. After massaging and dancing for several years I had always wanted to dance and be held in the water. What I learned right away was that receiving Watsu was one thing, however, learning to give was a huge learning experience for me. I am forever grateful for my time at Sierraville giving and receiving this healing dance.
In the fall of 2015 I was able to dive deeper in the water movement. I spent a month long immersion at Minakshi’s Aquatic Bodywork Island Studio in the Florida Keys studying Watsu 2 & 3 along with Waterdance™ 1. My time at the studio was a rich experience practicing day and night to become more fluid in my techniques as giver of this practice. It was such a fun experience learning from teachers Minakshi and Arjana C. Brunschwiler and meeting other water family practitioners.
Watsu has truly changed my dance in life. Being held in warm waters is one of the most loving experiences I have received in therapeutic bodywork.
Thanks for checking out my Watsu® page. Please read below about the Dallas areas that I provide service and my rates. Listed below are the ideal elements that make up a Watsu® session. During summer months if you don’t have access to a heated pool the pool temps usually are between 85-92°F, and with hot air temps sessions are still comfortable.
Warm water pool heated to 94-96°F. Any temperature below this heat is not considered ideal warm water therapy. The purpose for a consistent warm water temperature is to relax the muscles so when the session begins and throughout the client is relaxed and their body can move passively during their session time.
Pool depth, surface, and square footage. 3 feet - 3.5 feet with a flat non sloping bottom surface. Square footage is at least 11 feet in diameter. This will allow enough room to maneuver clients without them brushing the sides of the pool.
Quiet pool environment.
Water quality is pristine. Pool water should be balanced at ph 7.2 for efficient water sanitation.
As a traveling Watsuer I offer a few options for Watsu sessions within a 10 mile service radius from Dallas~Lakewood 75214.
